HOW DO I WATCH WORSHIP ON MY TELEVISION?

Bethany’s ability to stream our services to Boxcast gives us numerous options for watching worship. If you are watching from home, you may be able to put the service on your television screen. The following gives you some options for how to do that, along with some links for more information.

1 – Use your television as a computer monitor.

This may require just a simple input/output cord. Many computers and TVs can be connected with an HDMI (High Definition Media Interface) cable. Once you are plugged in, find the input on your television (HDMI 1 or 2), select the correct input, and you should be able to see your computer screen on your television. From there, you can go to Bethany’s live stream page. Here is an article for more information and more options to connect your television and computer.

2 – Connect to the Internet with a Smart TV.

Smart TVs can connect to the Internet through your Wi-Fi router at home. If you do not have a connected TV, here are the ways to do that for most Smart TVs. Once you are connected to the Internet, turn on just the television without turning on the cable box (if you have cable) and look for an app that is a simple Web browser. With your remote, you can enter the Web site for the church’s live feed - https://www.bethany-lcms.org/live-stream. You may also have other apps that let you watch Facebook live and You Tube live on your television.

3 – Use the Boxcast app with Roku, Fire TV, and Apple TV.

Our church uses a service called Boxcast, which also has an app on most streaming services. If you are using any of these, you can watch Bethany’s worship with two simple searches. First, search for the Boxcast app at your service’s channel store. Click “Add channel” and then click on the channel icon on your service’s home page.
When the app is open, go to the search box and type in “Bethany”. You can type more information, but we’ve found that less is more in this search. Our stream for Bethany Lutheran Church and Preschool is about halfway through the list. Look for the Bethany icon and click on that.

The next screen should show you the upcoming services on top and the recorded services below that. Click and worship with us!

4 – Take Roku on vacation or into your dorm.

As my family learned recently, you can even take your Roku streaming device with you when you travel. All you need is a wireless Internet connection. If you need to connect into a network like in a hotel room, there is a way to get your streaming TV through a device you have linked to that service. Roku gives you the step-by-step instructions here.

Whether you worship with us in your living room where you can be the most comfortable, or you are interacting and wishing God’s peace on our Facebook page, we pray that you and your families stay safe during this time. Ideally, we want to worship together as soon as we can, but God has blessed us with the technology to connect to His Word even when we are not in the same place at the same time.

Bethany family, remember that you can help us share God’s Word by sharing the video each Sunday. It has never been easier to say to someone, “Do you want to come to my church?”
May God bless you and keep you safe!
