We use the name "Small Group" to distinguish from the "Big Group"– the entire Bethany family – that gathers for worship in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings. There, we can do many things such as sing, pray, and share the peace with one another. But there are many different ways in which members can connect to God and one another – hence, "Small Groups."
When groups get together to read God's Word in a smaller setting, we are able to ask questions, share experiences that may connect to that Word, and even bring up concerns in the group for which people can pray.
There are other "small groups" in the church that also meet around an interest, instead of a Bible Study. If you like playing on a softball team, participating in communal singing, or going out to eat (and the occasional movie), then some of these other groups may interest you as well.
These are all opportunities to get to know each other outside of the Church services. Our small groups and fellowship groups are another way that we can grow in our faith and service to others at Bethany Lutheran.
After reading about the different groups, you can complete an online interest form, which will be directed to the leader of the group in which you've expressed an interest.
