Not Ashamed

ASH WEDNESDAY. Paul begins his letter to the Romans with a proud and bold statement about the Gospel. What is it that gives him the power and boldness to teach as he does? We will think about the Gospel on the day that we begin the season of Lent, which seems odd because this is a season where we acknowledge our sin and the things we are ashamed of. But why do we do this? So that we may then receive the power Paul is identifying here Romans 1:16 – the power to receive God’s righteousness by faith.
