Children's Choirs
Allelu
Singers
These are energetic youngsters in Kindergarten through grade 6. They rehearse
weekly (on Monday nights, from 6 to 6:45 p.m., followed by supper!), and sing
for worship usually twice a month, alternating between the 8:30 and 11 o'clock
services.
Even though they're having fun, Allelu Singers are
also learning the basics of good musicianship and singing skills.
Once a year, for both services, they present a musical (usually
in May or early June), such as "Daniel, Chapter Six" and "The Troubbable of Zerubbabel". Allelu Singers
also have an active outreach, presenting programs at, for example,
Mt. Vernon House and the Lincolnia Senior Center. They have also
performed with The Metropolitan Chorus in Arlington, and have participated
in children's choir festivals sponsored by Choristers Guild.
King's Ringers
These are youngsters in grades 2 through 6, and they rehearse on Mondays from
7:15 to 8 p.m. (after Allelu Singers and after supper!). They ring 3 octaves
of bells (using color-coded music), and play for worship usually once a month.
King's Ringers have presented programs in conjunction with the Allelu Singers at Mt. Vernon House and the Lincolnia Senior Center. In 2007, they will participate in the children’s handbell festival at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church in Annandale.
There are openings for new members in both children’s choirs.
